Freshmen Engineering Department
Basic Sciences are fundamental to all Engineering and Technology studies. The humanities studies have an important role to play. They enable the students to appreciate the social, political and economic impact of technology and consequently how to influence that. The Department of Humanities and Sciences offers a synthesis of teaching and training from the time the students get enrolled in their branches and The Department of Humanities and Science came into existence since the inception.
The Humanities and Sciences Department comprises of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English departments. The department has well qualified staff members. The staff members involve themselves in the welfare of the First year students. They have very good teacher – student interaction and all the teachers are student counsellors also. This ensures good academic performance of the students. Our faculty’s research expertise includes all frontier areas in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English. We impart the best teaching methodologies which prepares competent professionals able to independently apply knowledge to become a successful engineer.
All the science Labs are very well equipped to do all the experiments. The Department has adequate dedicated faculty members with specialization in diverse field. The Department organizes periodic guest lectures by inviting eminent faculty to deliver lectures and teach science in engineering approach. The department also conducts technical events for the first year to motivate students and create awareness about the industrial and real life requirements making learning a pleasure. The Language Lab with state-of-the-art software and hardware facilities help immensely in learning English and improve the students’ caliber.
LANGUAGE LAB:
Technical skills and communication skills cannot be separated. Technical communication is one of the most essential courses for all the professional students.
The department of H&S envisages to impact quality based teaching in the subject by providing necessary infrastructure at the college. In future, it aims to develop and implement the recent trends on English language. It also incorporates measure to enhance the LSRW of the students to extend their horizons of knowledge. In the classroom ambience, where the students have real life communication, authentic activities and meaningful tasks. Students are given chance to promote their communication.
English Language lab houses a full-fledged Language Laboratory which has been specially designed for student-teacher interaction, and greater concentration for language learning. It is specially designed for Beginners & Basic Learners. The Language Laboratory is also used for language tutorials. These are attended by Preparatory Course students and students who voluntarily opt for Remedial English classes. This especially benefits students who are deficient in English and also aims at confidence-building for interviews and competitive examinations. The Language Laboratory sessions also include word games, quizzes, extemporary speaking, debates, skits etc. These sessions are complemented by online learning sessions which take place in the Multi-Purpose Computer Lab.
FACILITIES:
The lab has PC's for easy access to students and it also has a large number of cassettes and books for all levels beginners, intermediate and advanced. The lab is used by all the students.
PHYSICS LAB
The Physics Laboratory operates within the Department of H&S. The Physics Laboratory is spacious, well-equipped. A separate dark room is attached for the conduct of optics experiments. All the experiments are designed to correlate theoretical knowledge with the practical applications. A maximum of four students perform experiments on a single set up. A computer simulation of the difficult experiments is also demonstrated to the students for better understanding of the concepts.
Facilities:
The lab is equipped with the Traveling Microscope, Lee's disc apparatus, Energy Band gap apparatus, Spectrometer, Laser Source, Fiber Optic Trainer, Air Wedge apparatus, Ultrasonic Interferometer, Hysteresis curve apparatus.
CHEMISTRY LABORATORY:
Keeping in view the recent developments in Science and the present needs in industries, the activities in Chemical Laboratory have been framed so that the future Engineers acquire practical laboratory techniques as well as applied theoretical principles necessary for a successful career in today's chemical industry.
Facilities :
Digital pH meter, Spectrophotometer, Flame Photometer, Demineraliser, Conductivity Meter, Hot Air Oven and Hot Plate.
