BIS Club
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) (formerly known as Indian Standards Institution) is a statutory organization functioning under the BIS Act 2016 and the aegis of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, is the National Standard Body of India established under the BIS Act 2016 for the harmonious development of the activities of standardization, marking and quality certification (ISI Mark) of goods, management system certification and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto. BIS has been providing traceability and tangibility benefits to the national economy in a number of ways – providing safe reliable quality goods; minimizing health hazards to consumers; promoting exports and imports substitutes; controlling over proliferation of varieties etc. through hallmarking, standardization, certification, and testing.
While on this, the Bureau of Indian Standards is very much concerned with the protection of consumer and their rights with respect to the quality of products and therefore regularly organizes various activities to spread awareness among the public through standards clubs activities, education utilization programmes for standardization, consumer awareness programmes, exposure visits to industries, etc.
